Breaking into the Chinese Market, Coco Sheet Products Made by Purwokerto Prison Inmates Officially Exported

PURWOKERTO - The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) has again made achievements in the program to train inmates' independence. The Coco Sheet product made by Purwokerto Class IIA Prison was officially released for export to the international market, China (China), on Saturday (8/8).

The first export release event was attended directly by the Director General of Corrections, Mashudi, along with the senior management of the Directorate General of Corrections.

What is Coco Sheet and its Uses?

Coco Sheet is a compressed coconut fiber sheet and is generally used as a base for mattresses, especially a support before the foam or spring layer.

The production of Coco Sheet at the Purwokerto Class IIA Prison has been running for about two months involving 15 inmates. In this first export, as many as 400 pcs of Coco Sheet were sent to the mattress manufacturing industry in China through cooperation with PT Chewy Louis.

Proof of Success of Prison Independence Training

Director General of Corrections, Mashudi, gave high appreciation for the achievements of the Purwokerto Class IIA Prison which managed to penetrate the global market.

"Appreciation to the Purwokerto Class IIA Prison for the achievement of exporting 400 pcs of coco sheets to China. This is proof that the results of independence training in prisons are able to produce products that have economic value and have a market at the international level," said Mashudi.

In line with the Director General of Prisons, the Head of Purwokerto Class IIA Prison, Aliandra, emphasized his commitment to continue to provide productive, sustainable, and market-oriented training programs.

"This achievement is the result of the cooperation of all levels. The involvement of the residents in the production process is expected to be a useful skill when they return to the community later," said Aliandra.

Purwokerto Prison Export Track Record

This export of Coco Sheet is not the first time for Purwokerto Prison to reach the international market. Previously, Purwokerto Prison together with PT Chewy Louis also successfully established a cooperation to export dog toys to the European continent.

This export release further strengthens the commitment of the Penitentiary in strengthening the empowerment of inmates through international standard productive economic activities.
