JEMBER - Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifatul Choiri Fauzi said the Egrang Festival can strengthen the commitment to a safe space for children in Jember Regency, East Java.
"Efforts to create a safe space for children require the involvement of all elements of society," he said when attending the XIV Egrang Festival at the Tanoker Community, Ledokombo District, Jember Regency, Saturday.
According to him, child protection cannot only rely on regulations, but must be built through collaboration, synergy, and joint participation, from families to the social environment.
"The national movement for a safe and comfortable space for children includes various living environments, ranging from families, public spaces, educational units to digital spaces," he said.
He said in this context, the commitment built by residents in Ledokombo District has an important meaning because it brings the village government and the community as part of a joint effort to solve problems at the level closest to the people.
"Various activities and collaborations that have grown in Jember Regency show a spirit that is in line with the Indonesian Common Space. This strength needs to continue to be developed so that it becomes a movement that is able to answer community problems while strengthening the protection and fulfillment of children's rights," he said.
Meanwhile, Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait said the meeting was an opportunity to strengthen synergy between central and local government programs.
"The commitment of the Jember Regency will continue to be in accordance with the directions of the President and the Minister, how children including the elderly have rights that must be fulfilled, including basic services such as health and education," he said.
For the Jember Regency Government, he continued, strengthening safe spaces is part of development that places the fulfillment of community rights as the main concern.
"Therefore, the involvement of village governments is important so that policies do not stop at the district level, but can be translated into real movements in the environment where people live their daily lives," he said.
Meanwhile, Director of Tanoker Farha Ciciek said the involvement of various groups is an important part of the Egrang Festival journey because for Tanoker, traditional games are not just a relic of the past, but can be a meeting space that allows people to get to know each other, work, and celebrate diversity together.
"Various communities, disability groups, across generations, across ethnic groups, religious social organizations walk together to showcase the best of their work in the festival," he said.
The Egrang Festival has evolved into an activity that has a broader meaning for the Ledokombo community because behind its simple form, the festival carries a message of concern, empathy, joy, and hope.
