JAKARTA Madura United failed to take over the top of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings after being held to a draw by Arema FC.

Laskar Karapan Sapi had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Arema in the 17th week at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali, Saturday, October 28, 2023 evening WIB.

In this match, Madura took the lead through Lulinha's goal in the 66th minute. Almeida dos Santos then replied with a penalty in the 78th minute.

Lulinha scored with her team ahead thanks to Novan Setya Sasongko's cross. He then released the flick to outperform the hosts.

Meanwhile, Almeida scored a penalty goal after he was violated in the forbidden box. He successfully took advantage of the opportunity to hold the visitors to a draw.

This result makes Madura United now collect 31 points from 17 matches and sit in second place in the standings. They are only one point adrift of Borneo FC in the top position.

Borneo had the opportunity to widen the distance of points if they win tonight when they host their guest Dewa United.

Meanwhile, this draw did not help Arema FC much. The reason is, they remain in the relegation zone or 16th place in the standings with a collection of 14 points.
