Barcelona’s Victory That Makes Xavi Feel Worried

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach, Xavi, had mixed emotions when his team won against Villarreal at Castellon, Sunday, August 27, local time.

The Catalan team continued their unbeaten start in the 2023/2024 La Liga season. However, it didn't go smoothly.

After winning 2-0 in the first 15 minutes through goals from Davi and Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona looked like they would win easily. However, the hosts actually turned things around after halftime.

Barcelona actually trailed 2-3 with 25 minutes remaining. Villarreal's three goals were scored by Juan Foyth, Alex Baena and Alexander Sorloth.

Luckily the Blaugrana were able to get up before the game ended. Two goals scored by Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski secured all three points for the visitors.

Despite the win, Xavi is clearly worried about his team's defensive problems, despite the win.

"The game went crazy because of us. We dominated but we also conceded too many goals," said Xavi, according to reports from Marca.

"It was a good game in attack, but defensively we struggled, but they are not an easy team to play away from home."

Xavi admitted that he was happy with the appearance of his team in the second half. However, he warned his team not to let their guard down in the next game.

"If we stop pressing high to regain possession, we will suffer. We have to improve defensively. But I am satisfied," he said.

Barcelona have one league game remaining before the September international break. They will travel to Osasuna next weekend.
