JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, ensured that a bubble system would be applied to quarantine athletes and delegates representing world organizations from abroad who will take part in the championships scheduled to be held in Indonesia.

“So, the system is a bubble, it will be done. It's just that the technicalities of each sport are different, but in principle, the quarantine is implemented with a bubble system", Zainudin said in a press release, Tuesday.

This policy was carried out as an effort by the government so that Indonesia would not lose the opportunity to host an international championship.

The reason is that several international events are threatened with being canceled due to the quarantine period policy in Indonesia, which has also made several countries refuse to participate and come to the country.

Meanwhile, several sporting events have been scheduled to be held in Indonesia this year, including MotoGP, IESF FIBA Asia Cup, Davis Cup tennis tournament, Shooting World Championship, Rock Climbing World Cup, and the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open badminton tournaments.

However, the Minister of Youth and Sports has attended a limited cabinet meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to discuss the relaxation of quarantine for sports players who come from abroad.

"In the meeting conveyed by the Head of National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) specifically for sports activities that we host, it means that there are participants from other countries and it will be applied the same as the Indonesia Badminton Festival at the end of 2021 in Bali", he said.

"We will technically communicate with National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB), the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. Hopefully we can still be the hosts", he continued.

He also asked all parties not to worry because the government will continue to strive so that these championships can still be held in Indonesia.

"I don't think the organizers of these international events need to worry because the government will definitely find a way out of what they are worried about", he concluded.
