Jeep Confirms V8 Machine Shutting Down At Grand Cherokee L, Here's Why

JAKARTA - The United States (US) auto brand, Jeep confirmed that the Grand Cherokee L model is no longer available in a 5.7 liter V8 naturally-assisted machine option later this year.

This decision follows the return of the V8 engine removed from the ranks of Jeep vehicles after the two-line version of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models last year and the Grand Cherokee.

Unfortunately, the company owned by Stellantis does not provide certainty when the last V8 engined unit will leave the production line. Thus, Grand Cherokee L now only leaves a smaller choice of the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine.

Launching Carscoops, Thursday, October 10, the turn off of the V8 engine is thought to be due to a lack of demand for this runway. Jeep said that less than 4 percent of customers chose this machine in the past year.

Please note, V8 machines have the capability of undergoing the needs of cranes thanks to impressive capacity of up to 3.2 tons.

Although the 3.6 liter V6 engine is the only one available for Grand Cherokee L, this powertrain is not expected to last long. It is likely that this SUV will carry a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the future, just like the two-line version.

This compact machine will be paired with a dual electric motor that provides a combined power of 270 dk and 378 Nm torque or will later be known in the 4xe variant or plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Although both the V8 and V6 engines will be turned off, it is hoped that Jeep can provide a choice of Hurricane 3.0 liters twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder straight on Grand Cherokee L. Previously, this option was already available on Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.

It is hoped that this machine will be the successor to the V8-powered Grand Cherokee, which provides impressive performance of 510 dk and 678 Nm torque.
