Nominated For Corrupted World Leaders, Jokowi: What Corruption?

The 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded to the question of being called the leader of the corruption released by the Organization Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

"Corrupted? What Corruption? What corruption?," he said in Solo, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 31.

Jokowi asked the party claiming the statement to prove it.

"Yes, it is proven, what," he said.

According to Jokowi, currently there is a lot of slander that comes to him.

"Now there are so many slanders, there are so many evil framings, there are so many accusations without any evidence. That's what's happening now, right?," he said.

Asked about the political content behind the nominations for the corrupt leadership, Jokowi laughed.

"Just ask questions. People can use any vehicle, they can use NGO, they can use the party," he said.

In fact, according to him, certain parties can use community organizations to throw such accusations.

"You can use mass organizations to accuse, to create malicious framing, to make accusations of such evils," he said.

Previously, Jokowi was nominated as one of the most corrupt world figures in 2024 according to the OCCRP version.

Quoted from publications published on the official OCCRP website, apart from Jokowi, several names mentioned include Kenyan President William Ruto, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasin, and Indian businessman Gautam Adani.
