Periclindo Calls Many Chinese Automotive Industries Consider Entering The Indonesian Market, What Brands?

JAKARTA - In recent times, Indonesia has been decorated with a number of automotive brands investing in the electric vehicle segment following several brands from China such as Wuling, BYD, Chery, and others.

In fact, there are a number of other foreign brands that see the potential of the electric vehicle market and are also rumored to be entering the country's market soon.

This was confirmed by the Head of Marketing & Promotion Division of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) Adrianto Gani, saying there are several brands that are considering entering the Indonesian market.

"It is true that there are several foreign potential investors who are considering investment opportunities in Indonesia," said Adrianto when met by the media in the Menteng area, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 4.

In addition, Periklindo will soon hold the 2024 Electric Vehicle Conference Periclindo which will take place in Bali on September 12-13 with the aim of attracting investors from various foreign brands.

Not only that, the organization also invited three brands from China, which are electric car manufacturers, such as Nio, Changan, and Hongqi, to participate in this conference.

"We provide a place, they can put forward the advantages of each product. The series will also be present, including Nio, Changan, then there is Hongqi, we will give them a place so that they can see that Indonesia is a new investment place for EVs," added Secretary General of Periclindo Tenggono Chuandra Phoa.

In addition, Periklindo also emphasized that with the potential for new investors to enter Indonesia, they can catch up with other countries and it is hoped that this conference will show that the country is ready with complete electrification.

Indonesia is a big country, neighboring countries like Thailand are so agile in attracting investors, if we don't do this year then we can lose. So it can't be postponed," said Tenggono.

In this event, Periklindo invited stakeholders to attend the event, including from government circles such as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

The election of Bali as the location of the conference is due to its position as an icon of tourism and Indonesian cultural center which has shown a strong commitment to the sustainability and preservation of the environment.
