JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk targets the Dirgahayu Bridge, which is located on the Capital Nusantara (IKN) Toll Road, the Simpang Tempadung-Jambatan Segment of Balang Island, to be completed by the end of 2024.
Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita revealed that the construction of the 340 meter long bridge is now in the process of installing curvature and bracing.
"The building of the steel box has been completed. So it's just a matter of completing the installation of the hanger (dependent cable)," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 31.
Ermy said that in the construction of this bridge, the company prioritizes strength and security, so the curvature-type bridge has a deep structure or bore pile. Then the lower curvature uses reinforced concrete.
Furthermore, Ermy explained, the Dirgahayu Bridge was designed equipped with 17 lights on the median bridge in accordance with the Indonesian Independence Day (HUT), August 17.
The number is equated with Indonesia's independence day. Then the eight top curvature braking is adjusted to August which is the eighth month, then the number of hangers installed on the bridge side is 45, according to the independence year," he said.
Ermy also said that overall the realization of the construction of the Section 5A Toll Road, Simpang Tempadung- Balang Island, had reached 99.22 percent. He said the company was committed to continuing to accelerate the work on the government project to be completed according to the target. Later, the road will support connectivity at IKN.
"The IKN Segment Simpang Tempadung- Balang Island Toll Road is useful as access to accelerate travel from Balikpapan to the Central Government Core Area (KIPP). This road also connects Balikpapan City with North Penajam Paser Regency," explained Ermy.
Furthermore, Ermy said the toll road could also shorten the travel time between IKN and Balikpapan. So facilitate community mobility while accelerating logistics delivery.
"Through the IKN Simpang Tempadung- Balang Island Toll Road, from Balikpapan to the IKN area it only takes one hour. Previously it could reach three hours," explained Ermy.
In the construction process, he continued, Waskita also carried out a number of innovations, with the aim of making work more efficient. Among them are developing an Auto Rain Weight System, so that rainfall can be measured by considering various safety factors.
The project team also optimized photogravity data collection with the Post Processing Kinematic (PPK) DJI Macic 3E drone. PPK is an observational method in the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) base station, which allows the dots and tools to move according to the measurement area.
PPK does not require a real-time radio connection to the plane from the base station. That way data storage is faster and easier," he said.

Ermy said another innovation was using the Intelligent Compaction (IC) concept for the ground-based compactification process. Through this concept, data can be obtained from all areas that are compacted according to the plan for Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Previously, the IKN Toll Road for the Simpang Tempadung-Branch Intersection of Balang Island had been operating functionally on August 17, 2024, in order to support the inaugural Republic of Indonesia's Birthday Ceremony (Indonesian Independence Day) at IKN. It's just that after the ceremony, the road was closed again and continued construction.
The project was carried out by Waskita-Nidya-Modern Operations Cooperation (KSO) with a total contract value of IDR 2.42 trillion. Overall, there are 12 IKN projects managed by the company worth IDR 8.1 trillion.
