JAKARTA - Ford, an automotive company from the US is considering assembling the latest SUV at its factory in Valencia, Spain. This is done to increase the bargaining power of products in Europe.

"Given the changes we see in the current automotive industry, we believe there is an opportunity to add new multi-energy SUVs into the European cycle plan, which will be produced in Valencia," the company said.

The manufacturer said that this still depends on a formal decision. The report says that the vehicles to be assembled in the matador country are hybrid and all-new models.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez welcomed this news well and was a positive thing for Ford's economy and workers in Valencia.

"The company's decision to produce electric vehicles guarantees the survival of the Almuspafes plant in the coming years," Sanchez said in his official account on X.

Previously, Ford said it would produce next-generation electric vehicles in Valencia with a new platform developed in the US. However, it has not been stated what EV models will be produced at the assembly site.

Valencia's Almuspafes plant has employed about 5,400 employees by producing a number of models, such as Kuga, Transit Connect, and has previously assembled Mondeo and S-Max and Galaxy models whose productions have been stopped.
