JAKARTA - After announcing a temporary suspension of the construction of an EV battery factory in Marshall Michigan last September in connection with slowing demand for electric vehicles, Ford has now announced that it will continue the project.

Quoted from Ford's official website, Wednesday, November 22, this announcement is also clear evidence for Ford's plans going forward, in order to achieve good growth and value.

However, manufacturers have made various changes to balance investment, growth and profitability. Including reducing production capacity to reducing employment opportunities.

"This facility will now create more than 1,700 jobs with a good salary in America to generate a planned capacity of around 20 GWh," Ford said.

As is known, Ford revealed plans for BlueOval Battery Park Michigan earlier this year and the plant is scheduled to start producing lithium iron phosphate batteries by 2026. The facility is scheduled to employ 2,500 people and has a capacity of around 35 GWh.

"We still hope BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will be the first Ford battery factory to produce LFP battery cells starting in 2026," Ford wrote on its official website.

Meanwhile, reported by CNBC, Ford Chief Communications Officer Mark Truby said that the company had taken many considerations.

"Starting from demand and forecasting growth for electric vehicles, our business plan, plans for our product cycle to affordability. We can create sustainable businesses in this factory," he concluded.
