Traffic Flow Smoothly, Garut Police Not Implementing Contraflow

Garut Resort Police said that the traffic flow conditions on the 2025 New Year holiday were sloping on the main Garut-Bandung road, Garut Regency, West Java, Wednesday evening.

Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Aang Andi Suhandi, stated that from morning to evening during the New Year holidays there was no congestion of the flow of vehicles from Bandung to Garut, or vice versa.

"For the movement of traffic flow until this afternoon, from this morning it was still quite smooth and normal," said Aang.

He said the flow of vehicle traffic on the main route of Bandung-Garut province and the Limbangan-Malangbong national route were in normal condition.

Even so, he said, his staff were still on standby to take anticipatory steps to unravel the density of vehicle flow on national and provincial routes and at tourist attractions.

"The movement of both Bandung to Garut and vice versa is still normal, so there has been no increase," he said.

He conveyed that the flow of vehicle traffic does not apply a one-way system to break the density, unlike before when the backflow of the 2024 Christmas holiday was carried out several times in one direction.

According to him, the traffic condition is still sloping because there are still many vehicles that survive in tourist attractions, some have postponed their return trips at the weekend.

"If the prediction is still to stay in tourist attractions, this backflow is predicted if it is not on the 1st (January), yes on the 4th, the return flow is predicted to be dense from tourism or the next day going to work and school," he said.

He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and always be careful when driving vehicles in the Garut area which has road conditions prone to accidents and natural disasters.

Drivers, he said, are also not recommended to use alternative routes such as Cijapati, and Kamojang for trips from Garut to Bandung, it is better to use a safer normal road.

"It is recommended to use an ordinary road, even if it is crowded it is okay because there are officers who arrange it," he said.
