JAKARTA Memories of today, seven years ago, January 4, 2018, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gathered kings and sultans throughout Indonesia at the Bogor Palace. This momentum was used by Jokowi to listen to input from everything related to the development of cultural and traditional values.

Previously, the king and the sultan had a big role in introducing regional culture. They also have a lot of role in Indonesia's independence. This condition makes the government often listen to their input, especially related to cultural development.

In the past, the position of the king and the sultan of the archipelago had an important role in the history of the journey of the Indonesian nation. Their leadership has a big influence. They were able to inherit ancestral cultural values.

They also moved to promote resistance to the invaders. Even though some are in partnership with the invaders. However, their influence was lost when Indonesia was independent. Many of the kings and sultans in the archipelago showed their loyalty to Indonesia.

This means that they no longer have the power to rule their people. They are no longer monarchy. However, they while having a new assignment become a symbol of culture. They are considered as a form of cultural sustainability and noble customs from an area.

The Indonesian government has never looked at them equally. The government is aware that they cannot fully work alone to protect and preserve culture. The existence of kings and sultans is considered to have a major influence on the maintenance of cultural and traditional values.

The government needs that. Synergy is needed so that the government can cooperate with kings and sultans throughout the archipelago. As a result, there was a National Gathering (Silatnas) of the King and Sultan Nusantara which had been held several times. The event became the way for the government and the kings of the archipelago to collaborate.

"If this cultural bastion occurs, then local traditions, local wisdom, the values we have can be lifted. That's why Indonesia's wealth. The rare momentum is related to absorbing all the aspirations brought by the king and the sultan regarding the cultivation of cultural values. Jokowi will also be willing to follow up on complaints or enter from the kings and sultans regarding other problems.

The meeting was brought in by approximately 90 kings and sultans from all over the archipelago. Jokowi also promised that the damaged palaces would be repaired. This condition is a form of government concern for those "kings and sultans" who have a big contribution to advancing the nation's culture.
