Attacking Russia-Ukraine With Missiles At The Border, 3 People Died

JAKARTA - Attacks on both sides of the Ukraine-Russia border killed three people on Friday local time.

Three missiles hit a residential area near the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, killing one person, injuring five others and destroying two houses.

Five people were also reportedly injured in a drone / drone strike in neighboring Kyiv and four people were injured when the city of Sloviansk was shot near the front line in the Donetsk area, officials said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in the first three days of 2025, Russia had launched 300 attack drones and nearly 20 missiles were targeted by Ukraine.

Most of the missiles were shot down or intercepted.

In the Kursk region of southern Russia, where Ukrainian troops took control of much of the region five months after the mass attack, a man who was walking on the road was killed in a drone strike.

The Governor of the Russian Bryansk region said a village near the border was attacked by mortars until a resident was killed.

Meanwhile, Russian military and local officials reported that the defense system shot down about 10 Ukrainian drones, including six in the Bryansk region.

The Ukrainian military previously said it had carried out high-precision attacks on Russian command posts in the Kursk region. The Russian military claims to have brought down four Ukrainian missiles.

Russia said it had reclaimed most of the territory captured by Ukrainian troops after they stormed the border to Kursk's territory in August.
