Allegedly Biting Metal In McDonald's Hamburger, This Japanese Woman Has Acute Pulpitis

JAKARTA - A woman broke her teeth after biting into a hamburger filled with metal objects at a McDonald's outlet in southwest Japan earlier this week, Japan McDonald's Holdings Co. said.

The 26-year-old woman came to a Mcdonald's outlet in Fukuoka City at around 2 pm on Tuesday this week, intending to have lunch with her choice of menu.

Arriving at the booth, she ordered the Rich Cheese Melt Tsukimi hamburger of her choice. She noticed a foreign object, shaped like a spring and thought to be part of a cooking utensil, right after biting into a burger, according to the fast-food chain.

The woman revealed she had pain in her mouth and went to the hospital the same day. The doctor who examined her diagnosed him with acute pulpitis, with a fracture in the tooth measuring about 1 millimeter.

"I meant to have lunch. I don't know what I would do if the same thing happened again," she told Kyodo News as quoted Friday, September 17.

The Japanese affiliate of the global fast-food chain apologized to the woman and refunded her for what happened.

As a follow-up, the company said it had instructed all of their outlet chains to inspect the equipment used, as well as investigate the cause of the incident.
