Gibran Has The Potential To Advance In The DKI Gubernatorial Election, But For Gerindra, Riza Patria Is Better

JAKARTA - Member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI Regional House of Representatives, Syarif, responded to rumors that Solo Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, would run in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor Election.

Although the rumors have not been confirmed to be true, Syarif considers Gibran worthy to participate in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor candidate contestation.

"Good. Indeed, Gibran is a potential figure. However, everything goes back to the nomination mechanism that must be carried out by the party, according to the provisions stipulated in the law", Syarif told VOI, Friday, September 17.

Syarif views that the DKI 1 candidates who will later advance in the gubernatorial election must show their achievements. Considering that Jakarta is the capital city of the country, the challenges are quite complex. According to Syarif, Gibran already has this opportunity because he has experience in leading the city of Solo.

"Jakarta needs people who have achievements, who have breakthroughs. Mr. Gibran is very capable (forward to DKI Governor Election). Slowly but surely he has shown his achievements", said Syarif.

However, Syarif emphasized that his party will still carry Ahmad Riza Patria to become the next 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor candidate. Given, this time Riza has served as Deputy Governor of DKI and Chairman of Gerindra DKI Regional Representative Council.

"Of course it is Pak Riza, the Deputy Governor who will be nominated for the DKI gubernatorial election. I will be at the forefront who will ask Riza to run through the Gerindra Party. Indeed, the party's decision encourages the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council to provide an opportunity to nominate him", he said.

However, Syarif admitted that Gerindra had not yet drawn up a nomination strategy in the political contestation in Jakarta 2024. According to him, it is still too early.

"Because the Deputy Governor of DKI is from Gerindra, we encourage us not to talk about the election first. Focus, concentrate as Deputy Governor, complete the term of office. We'll talk about it again at the right time. Gerindra is still early to talk about the 2024 Pilkada contestation", he concluded.

Rumors of Gibran being pushed forward in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election contestation are increasingly rising to the public surface. This rumor developed after Gibran left for Jakarta to receive the Top BUMD Awards 2021 and fulfilled the invitation for a blood donation event from DKI Jakarta Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Administrator.

Rumors spread, even more, when Gibran praised the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital city. In fact, Gibran considers Anies a role model for other regional heads.
