PDIP Angry, Gibran Continues To Be Troubled By Electoral Rumors For DKI Regional Elections: Everyone Focuses On Tackling COVID!

JAKARTA - Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP) Fraction is furious with the issue of the advancement of Solo Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election contestation. The reason is that the 2024 Regional Elections are still far away.

"I am surprised that the obvious has been blurred. Political industry activists are so eager to enliven the stage before the season arrives", said senior PDIP politician, Hendrawan Supratikno, to VOI, Thursday, September 16.

It is known that in the 2020 Solo Regional Elections, Gibran-Teguh pair was carried by PDIP with the support of Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, PKB, NasDem, PPP, PSI, and Perindo.

Asked about the PDIP's approval and support if the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ran for the governorship of DKI, Hendrawan emphasized that all party officials were focused on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still holding the motherland hostage.

"I don't know. Now everyone is focused on handling COVID-19 and economic recovery", he said.

He also hoped that the regional heads who were still on duty would not be disturbed by electoral rumors.

"We hope that their work will not be disturbed by offers and speculation of political libido", said Hendrawan.

Previously, the Deputy Chairperson of Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) Fraction, Jazilul Fawaid, also responded to the issue of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka's encouragement to run in the upcoming 2024 gubernatorial election.

Although he did not clearly explain the issue of support, according to him, the discourse was certainly related to the performance and achievements of President Jokowi's eldest son.
