National Human Rights Commission Ensures The Safety Of Central KPI Employees Who Is A Victim Of Sexual Harassment And Bullying

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) will ensure security protection for MS, employees of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) who experience acts of sexual harassment and bullying or bullying from their colleagues.

In addition, it is also certain that MS will receive psychological recovery from the severe trauma and recovery of health.

"It is certain that the victim can recover, for example psychological, trauma, then health recovery because from the release, the victim has also been examined at the hospital several times and indeed there are indications of health problems that must be restored, including security protection", said Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara, quoted from the statement from video broadcast on the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission's Public Relations YouTube, Friday, September 3.

"How about a victim who reveals an incident like this, even though it's been a long time, of course, there is the potential to then be threatened with the right to a sense of security", he added.

Komnas HAM will also ensure that MS gets a transparent, fair, and accountable legal process. Moreover, he has reported his co-workers who are suspected of committing acts of sexual harassment and bullying.

Furthermore, in the future, Komnas HAM will also explore two events that occurred within the Central KPI environment. Beka said that this action would be carried out after his party received information from MS, the alleged perpetrator, and other related parties.

"It is possible (we, ed) to ask for information on the extent to which KPI then responded to this incident since the first time there were allegations of sexual violence from 2012-2021 including the police. To what extent will the legal process be at the police", he said.

As previously reported, MS said he was a victim of sexual harassment and bullying by seven of his more senior colleagues.

One of the sexual harassment he experienced was in 2015, when the perpetrators ganged up on his head, hands, feet, stripped him naked, pinned him, and abused him.

"(They, ed) harassed me by scribbling on my testicles using markers", said MS in a chain message he sent because he felt it was his last resort.

"This incident traumatized me and I lost my emotional stability. How can this kind of evil harassment happen at the Central KPI? What kind of syndicate is the perpetrator? They even documented my gender and made me powerless against them after the tragedy", he added.

Related to this case, the Criminal Investigation Police also intervened to investigate this matter. In fact, a team of investigators has been deployed.

However, the Director of General Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigadier General Andi Rian, has not been able to comment much on the matter. He emphasized that the team that was deployed would seek information and instructions first.

In addition, MS has also reported this case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday, September 1 last night. When reporting, he was accompanied by the Central KPI Commissioner, Nuning Rodiyah.
