Mother-Child Killing And Rape In East Aceh, 2 Defendants Sentenced To Death

ACEH - The Panel of Judges of Idi District Court, East Aceh Regency sentenced two defendants to the murder of mother and child with the death penalty.

The Head of the District Attorney's Office of East Aceh, Semeru, represented by the Head of the General Crimes Section, Ivan Najjar Alavi, said the verdict was read out by the panel of judges in a trial at the Idi District Court, East Aceh.

"The verdict of the panel of judges is by the demands of the public prosecutor from the East Aceh Kejari which was read out at the previous trial", said Ivan Najjar in East Aceh, Antara, Wednesday, September 1.

The defendants are M Rizal (39) and Rabusah (46). Both are residents of Simpang Jernih, East Aceh. The two defendants attended a virtual trial from the Class II/B Idi Prison, East Aceh.

Previously, the victim Siti Fatimah (56), and her daughter NA (16) was found dead in a pathetic condition at their home, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency, last Monday, February 15 at around 14.00 WIB.

The trial with the panel of judges was chaired by Khalid, accompanied by Ike Ari Kesema and Reza Bastira Siregar, each as member judges. Meanwhile, the public prosecutors' Harry Arfhah and M Iqbal Zakwan.

Ivan Najjar Alavi said that in its decision the panel of judges stated that the defendant M Rizal and the defendant Rabusah were legally and convincingly proven guilty of premeditated murder.

"The defendant M Rizal, apart from being involved in murder, was also found guilty of raping the victim. While Rabusah was only involved in the murder. Both were sentenced to death", said Ivan Najjar Alavi.

Ivan Najjar Alavi said the two defendants were guilty of violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 76D of Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

"On the decision of the panel of judges, the Public Prosecutor and the two defendants both answered thoughtfully. The panel of judges gave up to seven days to state their position on the decision", said Ivan Najjar Alavi.
