COVID-19 Soars, 43 Regencies/Cities Outside Java-Bali Enter Micro PPKM Tightening

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the government has tightened Micro-Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in 43 districts/cities outside Java and Bali.

This is because the area is in the level 4 status of the COVID-19 handling condition, which has a high number of cases, the number of hospitalized cases, and the number of COVID-19 deaths.

In a sense, areas with level 4 are districts/cities that have more than 150 cases per 100,000 population, more than 30 hospitalized per 100,000 population, and more than 5 cases died per 100,000 population.

"The dynamics of the zoning movement of regencies/cities show that the movement is not good. Therefore, it was decided that 43 regencies/cities outside Java-Bali with level 4 status tighten Micro PPKM", said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Thursday, July 8.

Regencies/cities that are included in the tightening of Micro PPKM are required to strengthen efforts, testing, tracing, and treatment. Then, tightening community activities in the socio-economic sector.

"Also implementing control scenarios at the community level, adjusting RT zoning, for the sake of thickening control interventions up to the upstream source of COVID-19 transmission", he said.

In detail, the regulation for tightening micro PPKM is to apply WFH (work from home) in the office sector at 75 percent and WFO at 25 percent. Teaching and learning activities are carried out online. Essential sectors can still operate 100 percent with more stringent regulation of operating hours, capacity, and implementation of procedures.

Then, restaurant activities with a maximum capacity of 25 percent and delivery or take-away services are still allowed until 20.00 local time. Restaurants that only serve fast delivery or take away can be 24 hours.

Shopping centers or mall activities only operate until 17.00 with stricter health protocols, accompanied by a 25 percent limit on visitor capacity. Construction activities can operate 100 percent with stricter implementation of procedures.

The implementation of worship activities in houses of worship in public areas or in public facilities, along with cultural arts activities, seminar meeting activities, and offline meetings will be suspended and temporarily closed.

"The thickening of tiered control is an effort by every element of the government in each administrative area or element of society to play an active role. Because in principle, suppressing COVID-19 is everyone's moral responsibility", he explained.
