Jambi Police Handle Case Of KTP Counterfeiting Allegedly Performed By Dukcapil Employees

JAKARTA - Members of the Jambi Regional Police's Cyber ​​Ditreskrimsus handled cases of forgery, manufacture, and printing of Identity Cards (KTP) which were allegedly carried out by employees of the Jambi City Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil).

Jambi Police Special Criminal Investigation Director (Dirreskrimsus) Grand Commissioner Pol Sigit Dany Sutiyono accompanied by the Head of the Jambi City Dukcapil Service, Nirwan, at the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters, Wednesday said the cyber team had succeeded in uncovering a case of fake ID cards printed and made with damaged ID cards without official mechanisms. Jambi City Dukcapil so it is not officially recorded or fake.

This case was successfully revealed by the Jambi Police cyber team, after the victim reported that she received a fake ID card when making or managing an ID card at the Jambi City Dukcapil Office and then the case was investigated and successfully revealed by finding dozens of fake ID cards in one of the workrooms at the Dukcapil Office.

"The police are still conducting an investigation and have not named the suspect, but have examined the witnesses in the case of falsifying this ID card," said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Jambi Police, Grand Commissioner Pol Sigit Dany.

In this case, the modus operandi of the first perpetrators was to print ID cards outside working hours or the Jambi City Disdukcapil office. Where the perpetrators printed ID cards at around 04.00 western Indonesia time by first turning off the CCTV in the service.

The results of the police investigation showed that there were around 18 fake ID cards that were printed on that day and the next mode was by illegally accessing computers and the ID card printing system and the third mode was using damaged ID card materials at the service.

The original and damaged ID cards belonging to other people are cleaned and sanded and washed in such a way that these materials can be reused to print other ID cards.

"This is the original ID card, but the data on the ID card doesn't match the data stored on the ID card chip," said Sigit Dany.

For the perpetrators, their identities have been pocketed, but this investigation process will be upgraded to an investigation process. The police will investigate this case and until now, the police have not found any fraud cases related to the discovery of the fake ID card.

"We have not found this ID card used for a criminal act and from his actions, the perpetrator will be suspected in accordance with Law No. 11 of 2008 or UU ITE, article 30 paragraphs 1, 2, and 3, where the perpetrator is threatened with five years in prison and a fine of around Rp500. million to Rp700 million," said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Jambi Police, Grand Commissioner Pol Sigit Dany Setiyono.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jambi City Dukcapil Office, Nirwan, said that the people of Jambi City were advised to take care of making an ID card, following the official path of the Jambi City Disdukcapil and not taking the short route. Use routes that are in accordance with the service SOP at the Jambi City Dukcapil Service.

"He as the head of the service will also help the police to be able to reveal who the perpetrators are, even if it is an employee or staff at the Jambi City Dukcapil Service and we will submit this case to the Jambi Regional Police to be able to fully reveal who the perpetrator is," he said.
