Family Shares First Instagram Upload After Zakir Hussain Dies

JAKARTA - The family of the late Zakir Hussain, made an Instagram post for the first time since the Indian tabla maestro died on December 15.

It is known that Hussain breathed his last at the age of 73 at a hospital in San Francisco, United States.

In a monochrome photo uploaded on the maestro's official Instagram account, Hussain's wife, Antonia Minnecola, her two daughters Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi are holding each other tightly.

"Always together in love," wrote Hussain's family, citing the caption of the upload, Monday, December 23.

Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain was buried in a Fernwood cemetery located in San Francisco on Thursday, December 19.

Some of his admirers gathered at the funeral to pay their last respects. Sivamani and several other musicians played drums from a rather distance to pay their last respects to him.

Zakir Hussain is so famous among musicians and true music lovers. Through his performance, he changed tabla - a pair of drums used in Indian classic music - to become a globally loved solo instrument.

Hussain, who was born in Mumbai on March 9, 1951, received direct direction from his father, Ustad Allarakha Khan, who is also a tabla maestro.

As a teenager, Hussain had the opportunity to appear with the legendary Indian singer and composer, Pandit Ravi totaling. At the age of 19, he even performed at more than 150 concerts in a year, both in India and abroad.

Along with its development, it contributes to the soundtracks of several films, appears solo, and collaborates with artists on the world stage.

On his 1992 album, 'Planet Drum', he and drummer Mickey Hart won the Grammys in the category "Best World Music Album". He also performed with legendary artists such as George Harrison of The Beatles,appropriate Yo-Yo Ma, and Van Morrison.

Hussain then earned seven Grammy nominations, winning four of them.
