Puan Maharani Confessed Never Whispering Megawati: If She Decides, I'll Join!

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan Party (PDIP), Puan Maharani, reminded all cadres to continue to maintain solidity, fighting in one line ahead of the 2024 simultaneous elections.

“Dare to do politics, go into politics. We must be in one line, solid and upright", said Puan in a statement quoted on Tuesday, June 8.

She also conveyed this when giving directions to the three pillars of the PDIP, in Manado, North Sulawesi, yesterday.

She also said that in the past, her father who is also a politician, Taufiq Kiemas, once advised that to find out the cause of winning or losing in an election is to feel it firsthand.

"There is no theory, it can only be felt if you have fought together with others", she said.

Puan emphasized that the task of PDIP cadres is not only to win the election but also to bring hope and bring prosperity to the community.

"We don't just want the PDIP to win the general election, more than that. We want the PDIP's victory to pave the way for realizing a sovereign, independent, and personable Indonesia", she said.

In addition, Puan said that she had never interfered in the affairs of the PDIP Chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, including the affairs of the presidential election. Because he claims that he is a cadre who obeys the Party's decisions.

"I have never whispered to the General Chair for party affairs, she is my General Chair for party affairs. If Mrs. Mega has decided, I will join", she said.

She also appealed to all cadres, so that PDIP's commitment to the people must be realized in a real way through pro-people policies.

"Party officers in the executive and legislative branches, through central and local government programs, must ensure the allocation of budgets and programs to support people's lives and the people's economy", concluded Puan.
