JAKARTA - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kremlin, Maxim Oreshkin, emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) should not be a closed club for certain groups of people, so that fair access to resources must be guaranteed.

"AI must not become a closed club for a few people or a new global dividing line," Oreshkin said at a high-level meeting of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) in Shanghai, China, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Saturday, July 18.

Oreshkin stressed that fair access to artificial intelligence resources must be guaranteed.

"Countries need non-discriminatory access to data, computing power, modern models, software products based on these models, and reliable energy infrastructure," he said.

Oreshkin is in Shanghai to lead a Russian delegation participating in the WAICO AI World Conference and the organization's high-level meeting, on July 17-20.

The Russian delegation present in Shanghai included the Russian Minister for Digital Development Maksut Shadayev, along with representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs and economic development, the presidential administration, as well as leading Russian AI companies.
