Central Government Asked To Help Subsidy For Transpotation Impact Of TKD Observation Of Rp15 T Jakarta

JAKARTA The central government's policy of cutting Transfer Funds to Regions (TKD), especially Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH), is certain to significantly increase the fiscal burden of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov). One of the most crucial sectors threatened is the public transportation subsidy or Public Service Obligation (PSO) whose value now reaches IDR 6 trillion per year.

Chairman of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Nova Harivan Paloh, said the decline in DBH was very large, reaching tens of trillions of rupiah.

DBH Down Rp15 T, Transjakarta Most Affected

Nova Harivan Paloh said that the largest sector under Commission B and would be most affected was PSO subsidies and food subsidies.

"DBH fell to tens of trillions, around Rp. 15 trillion. This will definitely have an impact on us, because the largest sector in Commission B is PSO subsidies and food subsidies," Nova told reporters, Thursday, October 9.

Nova detailed that Transjakarta services are the largest PSO absorbers with subsidy loads reaching IDR 4.2 trillion per year. This fantastic budget is used to serve an average of 1.3 million passengers every day, with fares that have never increased since 2005.

"Indeed, from 2005 the tariff was Rp. 3500, until now it has never increased. The highest is our subsidy in TransJakarta," said Nova.

DPRD Discourses On Central 'Patangan' For Jabodetabek Transportation

Considering that DKI transportation services are now reaching the buffer zone (Bodetabek) and the DKI Provincial Government is also operating Transjabodetabek, the DKI DPRD is starting to explore the discourse so that some PSO financing can be assisted by the central government.

However, he emphasized that the discourse of 'joint ventures' of financing has not yet entered the implementation stage and will be discussed further at the DKI DPRD Budget Agency (Banggar).

Time To Study The Increase In Transjakarta Tariffs?

With the increasing fiscal burden, Commission B of the DKI DPRD assesses that the Provincial Government must immediately finalize a study of the plan to increase public transportation rates, especially for Transjakarta services.

However, Nova emphasized that the tariff increase policy must be decided carefully so as not to burden the majority of users, namely lower middle workers.

"We'll see first regarding, for example, studies, and for example, there must be a more in-depth study. What kind of community surveys are the capabilities of the community," he concluded.
