Idgitaf Songs Become Kaluna's Heart Voice in Home Sweet Loan The Musical

JAKARTA - There are many ways to convey feelings that are difficult to express in words. In Home Sweet Loan The Musical, songs by singer and songwriter Idgitaf are not just as an accompaniment to the scene, but become the voice of Kaluna's heart - the main character who struggles with dreams, family, and the harshness of life.

When the story adapted from Almira Bastari's bestselling novel moved from the big screen to the theater stage, music got a much bigger space to tell the story. Each song is designed to be an important part that leads the audience to understand Kaluna's inner struggle from the beginning to the end of the show.

Producer Cristian Imanuell explained that the process of choosing and developing songs was carried out through close collaboration between musical scriptwriter Widya Arifianti and Yemima Krisantina, Head of Development for the film Home Sweet Loan. Together, they designed how the Idgitaf songs could become the "backbone" of emotions in the show.

"The songs that were chosen earlier do represent Kaluna's emotional journey in the film. However, in the musical version, we want the songs to not only be a soundtrack, but actually explain the story and the journey of his emotions," said Cristian, quoted from a video interview uploaded by Visinema on Facebook, Saturday.

Unlike the film version which only presents one song Idgitaf, "Berakhir di Aku", this musical performance will present a number of new songs written specifically to strengthen various important moments on stage.

The song "Cukup Nggak Cukup", for example, describes the anxiety that many people are familiar with when they have to repeatedly check their account balance to ensure that their financial condition is still safe. Meanwhile, "Amarah Seperti Apa" invites the audience to explore the emotions that arise when conflicts occur within the family - anger that is born because of closeness and love.

Cristian said that each song was placed at crucial moments. From the opening of the show, the closing of the first act, to the climax at the end of the second act, music became a medium that strengthened the audience's emotional experience.

According to him, as reported by Antara, the creative process with Idgitaf was very enjoyable. The singer, who is familiarly called Gita, was considered able to translate the feelings of the characters into lyrics that are close to everyday life, so that the audience can feel as if they are listening to their own stories.

Not only offering a richer musical experience, Home Sweet Loan The Musical also presents two main actors who will play the character of Kaluna with different interpretations. This approach is expected to bring a new color every time the show is held.

Produced by Indonesia Kaya, Visinema, and Jakarta Art House, Home Sweet Loan The Musical is scheduled to perform at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, throughout September to October 2026.
