JAKARTA - Israel officially ended its relationship with the UN aid agency for Palestine (UNRWA) starting today, but said it would continue the distribution of humanitarian aid to Galur Gaza, Palestine.
In his upload on social media X Spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oren Marmorstein wrote, UNRWA is an organization filled with Hamas terror activities.
"This is why, starting January 30 and in accordance with Israeli law, Israel will not make contact with UNRWA," he wrote on X as quoted January 30.
"Israel remains committed to facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza in accordance with international law and the framework for releasing hostages," he continued.
Furthermore, he claimed Israel facilitated more humanitarian aid trucks to the Gaza Strip than agreed.
"There are several alternative organizations for UNRWA, including UN agencies, international NGOs and foreign countries, which are already operating to facilitate humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, and their role will only increase," he wrote.
Yesterday, Israeli government spokesman David Mencer said at a press conference, within 48 hours, Israel would close all UNRWA offices, stop communicating with members of the organization, and ban its activities in the country, quoted from TASS.
On January 25, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon told the UN Secretary-General that UNRWA must stop all activities in Israel by January 30 at the latest.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Presidential official spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said the Israeli occupation authority's decision to stop UNRWA activities was rejected and condemned, and was a provocation of the Palestinian people, contrary to UN resolutions on which the agency was formed, quoted from WAFA.

It is known that the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) passed a bill banning UNRWA activities in the country's territory and had an impact on occupied Palestinian territories.
The bill was drafted following reports of UNRWA staff participating in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Israel has repeatedly confirmed that many UNRWA employees have ties to the Hamas military wing.
