Two Cianjur Officials Exposed To COVID-19 After Getting Vaccinated

JAKARTA - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Cianjur, West Java, noted that two officials who had received vaccinations but were still exposed to COVID-19, even one of them was the Secretary of the Department of Industry and Trade, Yana Kamaludin, who died, had received two vaccinations.

As reported by Antara, Saturday, April 18, the spokesman for the Cianjur Covid-19 Coordination and Information Center, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said the exposure of the two officials who had received the first and second stages of vaccination due to decreased immunity due to high activity and comorbidities, resulting in immunity rapidly decreasing.

"For the late Yana Kamaludin, the Secretary of the Department of Industry and Trade previously received vaccination for the second time in March. The last vaccination was not long ago, making immunity built incomplete, plus the efficacy of only 65 percent," he said.

He explained, added that all this time, the deceased had a history of illness, so that the level of immunity after vaccination did not go well. However, his party urged residents not to be afraid of getting vaccinated as an effort to break the chain of transmission and for immunity.

"We still urge people who have been vaccinated not to ignore health protocols because not all who have been vaccinated are one hundred percent immune from the coronavirus. However, our efforts to prevent it through vaccination must be increased," he said.

Meanwhile, another official who tested positive for COVID-19 after receiving the first stage of vaccination, member of the Cianjur Regional House of Representatives Zeny K from the PKB Faction, however, the council member only underwent isolation in a special villa because he was not accompanied by symptoms of illness. Currently, the representatives of the people are healthy and are back to their normal activities.

"We hope that the public will not be anti-vaccination, even though the efficacy is 65 percent, it can still minimize its impact, so that various groups will immediately register themselves to receive phase III vaccination for the general public," said Yusman.
