JAKARTA - Israel bombarded the southern Aleppo occupied by the Syrian army on Thursday, January 2 local time.
It became Israel's first attack targeting Syrian soldiers since Bashar Assad's regime was ousted.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (HAM) said the attack targeted defense and research facilities.
"At least seven major explosions were heard, caused by Israeli airstrikes against defense factories... south of Aleppo," the Observatory said, quoted by AFP, Friday, January 3.
Local residents said a major explosion occurred in the south of Allepo.
Syrian state TV also reported on Israeli attacks on Aleppo without giving details.
Until now there has been no information regarding any injuries or deaths.
Since the opposition militant group toppled Assad in early December 2024, Israel has launched hundreds of attacks on Syrian military assets.
The Israeli military argued the attack was aimed at preventing military weapons from falling into enemy hands.
