President Putin And Pezeshkian Discuss Conditions In Syria, Support Situation Recovery

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the current conditions in Syria with his partner Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian by telephone on Monday.

The two leaders highlighted the actions of terrorist groups in Syria, supporting the recovery of the situation in the country, according to statements from the two countries.

"Attention is focused on the increasing situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. The major aggression of terrorist groups and gangs is seen as an attempt to undermine Syria's sovereignty, political, social and economic stability," the Kremlin said in a statement, quoted from TASS December 3.

According to the Kremlin, unconditional support was declared for legitimate government actions in Syria to restore constitutional order and the country's territorial integrity.

In addition, emphasis is also put on the importance of coordinating efforts in Astana format with Turkey's participation.

Meanwhile, President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country was ready to cooperate with Russia to control regional situations and help resolve the crisis in Syria, according to the Iranian Government website.

"We believe that recent events are part of a dangerous US plan and the Zionist regime (Israel) to disrupt the geopolitical landscape in the region in the interest of Zionists, but this plan will fail thanks to the unity and cooperation of regional countries," President Pezeshkian said., quoted from Reuters.

Earlier, President Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with Syrian President Bashar Assad on Monday, discussing the current situation in his country.
