JAKARTA - The World Health Organization or WHO warned of a "very unusually severe" situation in North Gaza due to Israeli military aggression against health facilities, particularly the latest siege at Kamal Adwan Hospital.
"Reports regarding the damage or destruction of hospital facilities and medical supplies during the siege are regrettable," said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus via his X social media account, Saturday, October 27.
He noted that 44 male staff members of Kamal Adwan Hospital had been detained by Israeli forces, leaving only female staff, hospital directors, and a male doctor to treat about 200 patients who needed urgent medical treatment.
"Every attack on health facilities is a violation of international humanitarian law," Ghebreyesus said.
Tedros called for an unconditional ceasefire as the only way to protect Gaza's deteriorating health system.
