Proven For Adultery, 3 Acehnese Citizens Caned At The Stadium

JAKARTA - Three violators of Islamic law who were convicted in a case of adultery by the Lhokseumawe Sharia Court, Aceh Province, have served 300 lashes.

The implementation of the caning was centered at Tunas Bangsa Stadium, Mon Geudong Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City, Tuesday, April 6.

The three convicted of violating Islamic sharia, namely Zulkhairi, Resky Munanda, and Lita Trisnawati. They were whipped 100 times each.

Head of the Public Crime Section of the Public Prosecution Service of the Lhokseumawe District Attorney Muhammad Doni Siddik said the implementation of the caning was from two cases of Zina with four convicts, namely two men and two women.

However, said Muhammad Doni Siddik, a convict on behalf of Rosmawar could not undergo caning because she had just given birth.

"The convict on behalf of Rosmawar just gave birth by cesarean section on April 1. According to the doctor's letter, the convict can only serve a caning sentence after 120 days after giving birth," said Muhammad Doni Siddik.

Muhammad Doni Siddik said that the caning of the convict Rosmawar was still carried out during the next flogging after 120 days of giving birth.

"The convicts are legally convinced that they are guilty of violating Article 33 Paragraph 1 of the Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the Law of Jinayat," said Muhammad Doni Siddik.
