YOGYAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Creative Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) is proud to hold the 2024 Paparekraf Developer Day (BDD) in Yogyakarta City, Sunday (6/10). This event aims to have a positive impact on the development of the digital ecosystem in Indonesia by targeting application and web developers as part of the creative economy sub-sector that has experienced significant growth since the pandemic.

Yogyakarta was chosen as the host because of its position as one of the cities with great potential in the fields of technology and education. The presence of well-known universities and the growing creative community makes this city an innovation center that is ready to play a role in the development of Indonesia's digital ecosystem. A total of 1,000 selected developers have the opportunity to attend directly from a total of 4,000 registrants. There are even participants from Merauke, Papua Province.

"This shows that the interest of young people to transform digitally has spread throughout the archipelago. We hope that this can fill 9 million talent gaps or the lack of talent that Indonesia needs towards Indonesia Gold 2045," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.

Currently, Indonesia is known as one of the countries with the largest digital economy potential in the world, with estimates of the value of the digital economy reaching hundreds of billions of dollars in the coming years. However, on the way to this growth, Indonesia is still faced with one of the main challenges, namely the digital skills gap. The difference between labor demand in the digital sector and the availability of human resources that have the right competence is a challenge that must be overcome immediately.

"BDD 2024 also opens opportunities for participants to network with technology industry players, startups, and investors who have great interest in developing digital technology. This event is a strategic platform for developers to present their creative ideas and open up opportunities for further cooperation," said Muhammad Neil El Himam, M.Sc., Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products, Kemenparekraf.

BDD is a collaboration between Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf and Dicoding as Google Developers Authorized Training Partner and Google Cloud Partner in Indonesia. By carrying the theme Briging the Digital Skills Gap: Paving the Way for Digital Indonesia, BDD aims to provide inspiration, education, and facilitation to developers, especially developers in the fields of applications, web, and android in order to improve their skills and quality in accordance with global industrial standards.

In addition, through the Yogyakarta BDD, participants will be given insight into the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in building an inclusive and competitive digital ecosystem. So, they are expected to be more prepared to face challenges in the fast-growing technology industry at the national and global levels.
