KALTENG - About two hectares of vacant land in Tumbang Mangkutup Village, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) experienced a fire.

"The vacant land that caught fire in Tumbang Mangkutup Village, Manggai District was reported to have occurred on Wednesday (September 25) at around 19.00 WIB," said Tumbang Mangkutup Village Head, Suriato in Kuala Kapuas, Central Kalimantan, Thursday, September 26, confiscated by Antara.

According to reports from local villagers, the fire began to be seen on Wednesday, September 25, and then spread quickly due to hot weather conditions and strong winds.

Residents and the local village fire team immediately moved to extinguish the fire. The extinguishing process is not easy, because access to the burned land location is quite difficult to reach by fire engines.

The fire brigade team was forced to use manual equipment, such as a portable water pump and build fire barriers to prevent fires from spreading to other areas.

"The location of the fire is not far from the Utan Mawas Tuanan Research Camp," he said.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is suspected that it is temporarily leading to intentional factors, considering that several land fires in this area are often triggered by land clearing activities.

"For now, we can extinguish the fire and it is safe to control even though the condition of the land fire is quite difficult to reach, the team is still enthusiastic about extinguishing it," he said.

His party appealed to the public not to carry out land burning activities, both for agriculture and other purposes, because it could pose a wider risk of fire.

In addition, local officials will also increase patrols and surveillance in fire-prone areas to prevent similar incidents from recurring. This fire is a reminder of the importance of preserving the environment and preventing further damage due to arson.
