JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD held a joint leadership meeting to propose the names of the candidates for the Governor of DKI Jakarta after Heru Budi Hartono's term ends on October 17. In fact, in the meeting, every representative of a political party proposed three names of echelon I civil servants as candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI. After that, the DPRD will again select three names from the most proposed party factions. The three names will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to be selected by one of them by President Jokowi. "We from the DPRD received a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs asking the DPRD through existing parties or factions in the DKI DPRD to be able to propose a candidate for PJ Governor," said the chairman of the DKI DPRD, Achmad Yani at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Wednesday, September 11. Apparently, almost all party factions in the DPRD have not yet determined their three names. Only the PDIP faction claimed to be ready to propose. PDIP wants to propose that Heru return to his position as Acting Governor of DKI until the inauguration of the new Governors and Deputy Governors of DKI. The DPRD has actually received a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs to propose a candidate for the Acting Governor of DKI since last September 2. However, considering that the members of the council for the 2024-2029 period had just taken office, Yani said that his party was still focused on carrying out the orientation period of DPRD members. "Yesterday from the DKI DPRD there was an orientation period for leaders and members of the DPRD. Because there was such an activity, we had not immediately held a meeting because they had to concentrate, provided with provisions on diversity," Yani explained. Thus, the DKI DPRD decided to postpone the submission of proposals with a follow-up meeting held on Friday, September 13, or on the last day of the proposed name to the Ministry of Home Affairs. "We agree that later on, the meeting that we will score today until September 13, 2024 at 10.00 WIB, we will start again," he said. In today's meeting, the DPRD alluded to the names of three echelon I ASN in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which have the opportunity to become a candidate for Acting Governor, namely Heru Budi Hartono, Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono, and Deputy Governor Marullah Matali. However, Yani said that the DPRD was also given the freedom to propose echelon I ASN from outside the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"If the political party proposes to be outside (the DKI Provincial Government) its name, please. There is no problem. It's only a matter of three names, the biggest one, it's him that we will propose to the Ministry of Home Affairs," he added.
