YOGYAKARTA In running the government, a regent sometimes resigns, causing the vacant position. In order for government activities to continue, the Acting Regent is assigned to fill the position. Then what is the Acting Regent actually?

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2023, the Acting Regent is the Regent's Official, namely ASN who serves as the post of high-ranking prime minister appointed by the Minister. The position of Plt is held by representatives of officials both to the deputy governor, deputy regent, and deputy mayor. If the governor, regent, and mayor are unable to do so, it will be replaced by Plt.

Meanwhile, Acting is a derivative of Article 70, Law 10 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 1 of 2015 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Law.

Initially, the term Acting was Plt, but changed based on Permendagri 1/2018 concerning Amendments to Permendagri 74/2016. The name change was made as a replacement differentiator when the official took campaign leave or when he was temporarily absent.

Meanwhile, Plh is a position filled by a regional secretary (sekda) if the term of office of the regional head is less than a month.
