The Viral Man Who Goes Raging Brings Sajam To Be A Suspect, Charged With Emergency Law

JAKARTA - A man named Danovan Sembiring Meliala who had gone viral because of threatening and brandishing sharp weapons to the public. Currently, the police have named him a suspect.

"Sudah ditetapkan tersangka, atas nama saudara DSM. DSM ini berusia 43 tahun warga Bekasi Barat, Kota Bekasi," ujar Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi kepada wartawan, Senin, 9 September.

In that case, Danovan Sembiring Meliala was charged with Article 1 and or Article 2 of the Emergency Law number 12 of 1951 concerning the use or control of sharp weapons (sajam).

Regarding the detention, continued Ade, the suspect Danavan was decided to be taken to the Kramat Jari Police Hospital, East Jakarta.

"After being determined, investigators carried out an arrest of the suspect because the suspect was being examined for mental health," said Ade.

Danovan Sembiring Meliala had gone viral on social media for threatening members of Bhabinkamtibmas or Binmas Pulogadung Police using sharp weapons.

The threatening action using sharp weapons took place on Jalan Kayu Putih, Kayu Putih Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta on Thursday, September 5.

However, the Pulogadung Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest and secure him on Friday, September 6.

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly said a urine test had been carried out on Danovan Sembiring Meliala. As a result, the man tested positive for methamphetamine.

"Yes (the results of the examination tested positive for methamphetamine)," said Nicolas.
