Study 3 Gorontalo Active Fault Points, BPBD: There May Be Excavation Using Beko

GORONTALO - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) together with a number of agencies, institutions and universities focus on three locations that are studies areas for Gorontalo active faults.

Acting Head of the BMKG Research and Development Center Rahmat Triyono said the three regions were Mootilango, Bongomeme and Limboto.

"So we have identified yes, there are three segments in Gorontalo that are the focus of research or field data collection," said Rahmat in Gorontalo, Tuesday, September 3, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that in the area to be visited, the study team carried out methods of geological and geophysical investigations as well as aerial photos.

"Including later there may also be excavations using beko, depending on field conditions," he said.

Rahmat explained that the team will see fault faults in the area, ranging from slopes to canals and mapped in detail or accurately.

BMKG conducts comprehensive mapping of the Gorontalo fault to find out the position, geometry, and fault zone, from the district to village levels from September to December 2024.

The mapping is very important to understand the potential danger of earthquakes in the region and to mitigate disaster risk and consider its significant impact on the community.
