Reported About Alleged Corruption, Police Calls Water Gas Funders According To Procedures

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that all activities and procurements carried out by Koprs Bhayangkara were based on the applicable laws or regulations.

The statement was made in response to the steps taken by the Civil Society Coalition for Police Reform to report allegations of corruption related to the procurement of tear gas by the Police to the KPK.

"We need to inform the National Police that in every activity process it is carried out by referring to the applicable laws and regulations and ensuring that the procurement is carried out in accordance with applicable procedures," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Tuesday, September 3.

Not only that, the procurement process carried out by the National Police has also gone through a planning process to supervision.

Of course, by intensifying external parties to ensure transparency of the procurement process.

"It has been through the process of planning the needs, inspection, supervision, and audit of a number of authorized parties, both from the internal and external police," he said.

"And it is allocated efficiently, which aims to maintain security and public order and function duties as mandated in Law No. 2 of 2002," continued Trunoyudo.

On the other hand, it was also conveyed that the National Police respected the rare reporting carried out by the Civil Society Coalition for Police Reform. Because, it is a form of public concern for the Bhayangkara Corps.

"We appreciate the form of community participation in providing criticism and input on the good of the Police in the future," he said.

Trunoyudo also said that the National Police and the KPK always work together in efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption in Indonesia.

"We also always coordinate, communicate and cooperate with KPK institutions so far in every activity process related to the prevention and eradication of corruption," said Trunoyudo.

The Civil Society Coalition for Police Reform reported allegations of corruption related to the procurement of tear gas by the Police to the KPK. Deviations in the process carried out are suspected to have occurred and are said to be detrimental to the state.

"Regarding the procurement of tear gas, we have conveyed that at least there are several things related to the potential for irregularities to occur," said Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) Coordinator Agus Suryanto to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, September 2.

The first deviation is an allegation of tender conspiracy that leads to a certain brand. Then the second is related to an indication of mark-ups or expensive prices carried out by the procurement committee," he said

Agus said that the procurement committee was allegedly not careful when preparing the budget, especially regarding the pepper projectile launcher or the tear gas launchers in 2022 and 2023. "The alleged mark-up indications reached around Rp26 billion," he said.
