KPU Ensures That The 2024 Pilkada Stages In The Arfak Mountains Of West Papua Are Controlled

WEST PAPUA - Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Arfak Mountains (Pegaf), West Papua Yosak Saroi stated that all stages of the 2024 Pilkada in his area continue to run safely and smoothly.

"Since registration of candidate pairs on August 27-29 until today, all health checks can run smoothly and safely," said Yosak in Manokwari, West Papua, Saturday, August 31, as reported by Antara.

He said that there were two pairs of candidates who participated in the Pilkada contestation in Pegaf Regency, namely Dominggus Saiba-Adi Sababai (Doman) and Marinus Mandacan-Daniel Mandacan (Madan).

The Doman pair is supported by 10 political parties that have more than 20 thousand valid votes. Meanwhile, the Madan pair was supported by five parties with more than 12 thousand valid votes.

The two pairs of candidates have declared their complete registration documents so that they have been given an introductory letter to carry out a medical examination at the West Papua Province General Hospital.

"Today the Doman pair who carried out a two-day health check for physical examinations and mental health checks. Then tomorrow the Madan pair will also be the same," he said.

Yosak explained, after the stage of the KPU's health examination, he would validate the nomination requirements file.

He is optimistic that the 2024 Pilkada in Pegaf Regency can be an example in West Papua Province because it runs safely and smoothly.

As is known, the terror action of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) or the Free Papuan Organization (OPM) in the Arfak Mountains and other areas of West Papua is quite disturbing, one of which is the attack on project workers who are building health centers in Maybrat Regency in early 2024.
