The Bengkulu DPRD Security Guard Was Fired For Student Persecution Who Demoted The Pilkada Bill

BENGKULU - Chairman of the Bengkulu Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD) Ihsan Fajri emphasized that the temporary staff who were security guards in the neighborhood, namely Yoki Ramadansyah, were dismissed for molesting students.

"Regarding the honorary staff who beat them, namely the security guard of the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD on Monday (26/8/2024), they were officially fired," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 23.

The dismissal was carried out because he beat a Bengkulu University student who held a demonstration in front of the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD Office on Wednesday (21/8) regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the Regional Head Election Law (Polda).

In addition, thousands of students in Bengkulu consisting of Bengkulu University (UNIB), Muhammadiyah Bengkulu University (UMB), Fatmawati State Islamic University (Uinfas), Dehasen University and others asked the chairman of the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD to fire Yoki.

"We ask Yoki's brother to be fired from his job," said Bengkulu University Student Executive Board (BEM) Chairman Ridhoa P. Hutassuhut.

Meanwhile, Bengkulu Police Chief Kombes Deddy Nata emphasized that his party is currently investigating the alleged perpetrators.

"Regarding the viral video of police officers at public demonstrations yesterday, we have found the culprit and we picked him up last night until now we are still checking and we will investigate it," he said.

The alleged perpetrator has made a video clarifying and will be met with the student who was the victim of the beating.
