SEMARANG - Semarang Immigration Office, Central Java, has postponed the issuance of hundreds of passport applications during the January to August 2024 period. Semarang Immigration Chief Guntur Hamonangan said that the applicant whose passport was postponed was suspected of being an Indonesian migrant worker who was not in accordance with the procedure. "There are about 200 applicants whose passports have been postponed," said Guntur in Semarang, Antara, Sunday, August 4. According to him, most of the applicants applied for passports for vacation purposes. However, during the interview, the person concerned could not explain the purpose of his departure abroad. "From the initial indications and then investigated, it is known that they will become non-procedural workers," he said. Guntur said that his party only postponed the issuance of the applicant's passport while waiting for the completeness of the required documents. "We will process it again after the conditions are met," he added.

He said the hundreds of applicants would on average travel to Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
