JAKARTA - Samsung's cell phone was found among the belongings of a North Korean soldier killed by Ukrainian troops while fighting alongside Russian troops, according to the Ukrainian military.

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) said in a post on Facebook on Tuesday (local time) they carried out a raid on Russia's western front line in Kursk, killing two North Korean soldiers, quoted from The Korea Times January 30.

Photographs released by SSO show confiscated items including a cell phone that appears to be a 2G Samsung model based on its exterior design.

Other items include printed material with the phrase Ukraine being transliterated into Korean, such as "Let your body down" and "Open your arms," which seems intended to be used when capturing Ukrainian soldiers.

During the raid, Ukrainian soldiers also confiscated military assets, including protective equipment, military equipment, DL-5 surveillance, 1PN139-1 thermal imaging surveillance devices, as well as AK-12 assault rifles equipped with 1P87 surveillance equipment, according to SSO.

Passports from the Republic of Buryatia, a Russian federal subject, were also found, along with a letter containing a New Year's message from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to the army deployed.

In the letter, Leader Kim praised the soldiers for their efforts, saying, "Never forget, even for a moment, that I continue to hope and pray that all of you return safely and in good health."
