Member Of The DPR F-PKS Nasir Djamil Asks The KPK To Investigate Allegations Of Corruption In Hajj Quota That Drags Minister Of Religion Yaqut

JAKARTA - Members of the DPR asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately investigate allegations of corruption that dragged the name of the Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Saiful Rahmat Dasuki regarding the 2024 hajj quota.

The DPR considers that reports of alleged abuse of authority by the Minister of Religion and the Deputy Minister of Religion in organizing the 2024 Hajj by students need to be followed up by the KPK.

"The KPK is expected to accept the report and follow up in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Although, some parties consider the implementation of this year's Hajj to be better," said a member of Commission III of the DPR, Nasir Djamil, Friday, August 2.

This PKS politician emphasized that the formation of the DPR's Hajj Anggat Special Committee was due to indications of alleged corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.

"Whether it's from the accommodation side, transportation, foodstuffs and the special matter given by the Saudi Arabian government to Indonesia," said the Aceh electoral district legislator.

In addition, Nasir assessed that the parties involved in the report must also immediately be asked for clarification. Both Minister of Religion Yaqut, as well as other related organizers.

"Commission III of the DPR RI has a good suspicion of the KPK that this anti-Rasuah institution has a concern to curb the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage. (The summons, ed) could be carried out if it meets the requirements," said Nasir Djamil.

It is known that the Anti-Corruption Youth Front reported Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Deputy Minister of Religion Saiful Rahmat on suspicion of corruption in the hajj quota to the KPK.

Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption Youth Front, Rahman Hakim, admitted that he had submitted several pieces of evidence to the KPK. He hopes that the KPK as law enforcement officers can immediately follow up on the report.

The KPK was also asked to be serious and not take a look at this alleged corruption report. Because, said Rahman, Hajj is an important thing for the people of Indonesia.

For information, the DPR Supervisory Team (Timwas) in organizing the 2024 Hajj also found indications of corruption in the transfer of the Hajj quota by the Ministry of Religion.

The 2024 Hajj Questionnaire Special Committee was formed and agreed by the DPR at the Plenary Meeting which was held on Tuesday 9 July 2024. The formation of this Special Committee is to trace the findings of the DPR'swas Team.

The Ministry of Religion unilaterally diverts the regular hajj quota to special Hajj by 50 percent. This clearly violates Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah. The special hajj quota should be set at only 8 percent of Indonesia's hajj quota.
