45 Prisoners At Salemba Rutan Wisuda Santri After Undergoing Religious Development

A total of 45 correctional inmates (WBP) or inmates participated in the graduation of the 58th batch of students at the Class 1 State Detention Center (Rutan) of Central Jakarta or Salemba Detention Center on Wednesday, July 17.

A total of 45 inmates are at the At Tawwabin Islamic boarding school in the At Taubah Mosque which is located in the Salemba Rutan area. This pesantren activity is a spiritual development program for WBPs.

Apart from being graduated, the students also participated in commemorating the Islamic New Year 1 Muharam 1446 H in 2024.

Head of the Class I Detention Center of Central Jakarta, Fauzi Harahap, said that this pesantren activity is a spiritual development program for prisoners or inmates.

"Hopefully this santri formation activity will have a good impact on the development of morals, religions, morals and as children of the nation entrusted by the state in the class 1 detention center of Central Jakarta," Fauzi told reporters at the Salemba Detention Center, Wednesday, July 17.

Fauzi said, for the next batch of pesantren, namely the 59th batch, there will be 45 more WBP recruitment. In addition, for the WBP who excel, they will receive a direct award from Karutan Salemba.

"Giving awards to motivate other students to further improve themselves against student training and education for 6 months," he said.

Fauzi hopes that the WBP after being released from their detention period can return to the community and become a better person.

"Hopefully in the future we can restore it according to the existing rules in his family and society. In order to become a nation's son who has a high morality, a religious mentality, and fighting power as a nation's son to support and defend the country," he said.

The activity was also attended by the Head of the Central Jakarta Ministry of Religion Office, Head of the Central Jakarta Library Sub-dept. and Chairman of the MUI.
