JAKARTA - The status of Mount Semeru in East Java has dropped from Alert to Alert. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB TNBTS) is preparing a number of preparations before reopening the hiking trail on the 3,676 mdpl mountain. "There has been an announcement from PVMBG about decreasing Semeru's status from level III to level II. "I am sure that many lovers of Mount Semeru have missed. But we will fix several things before Semeru opens. We do not immediately open the climb after there has been a decrease in status," he said.

Sebagai informasi, pendakian Gunung Semeru ditutup oleh Balai Besar TNBTS sejak 3 Juli 2021. Gunung dengan ketinggian 3.676 meter di atas permukaan laut (mdpl) tersebut kemudian mengalami erupsi besar pada 4 Desember 2021.Gunung Semeru merupakan gunung berapi yang terletak di wilayah Jawa Timur, dan merupakan gunung tertinggi di Pulau Jawa. Gunung Semeru juga merupakan gunung berapi ketiga tertinggi di Indonesia, setelah Gunung Kerinci di Sumatera, dan Gunung Rinjani di Nusa Tenggara Barat.Semeru terletak di dua wilayah yakni Kabupaten Malang dan Kabupaten Lumajang, dan masuk dalam kawasan Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru.
