KPK Will Analyze The Possibility Of Yasonna Laoly Helping Harun Masiku Escape Through Ronny Sompie's Information

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finished examining the former Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Ronny Sompie as a witness in the bribery case of Harun Masiku that ensnared PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika said investigators had questioned Ronny several things. Including, about the data on Harun Masiku's crossing, which is fugitive to date.

"The examination is not far from what was conveyed by the person concerned. Investigators are of course investigating the knowledge concerned regarding the crossing data of HM's brother and about his duties as Director General of Immigration at that time," said Tessa to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 3.

As for the possibility of Yasonna being involved in the Harun Masiku case, Tessa doesn't want to talk much. This is because the testimonies of all witnesses will be examined.

"Yes, of course there is or not, we will be able to see the results later," he said.

"Investigators are currently still investigating all the testimonies and summoning witnesses who do have information or knowledge whether it is related to the whereabouts of HM's brother, or related to the case itself, in this case, bribery to Wahyu's brother," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Meanwhile, Ronny Sompie said what he conveyed to investigators in accordance with the press conference in January 2020. He said, Harun returned to Indonesia on January 7, 2020 through Soekarno-Hatta Airport after leaving for overseas on January 6, 2020.

"And what you need to know at that time was that there was no request for prevention abroad from KPK investigators to the Directorate General of Immigration through the Minister of Law and Human Rights," he said.

On that occasion, Ronny ensured that there was no intervention from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights regarding the prevention of Harun Masiku from leaving the country. Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of him being sacrificed when he was removed from his position, Ronny did not want to speculate.

"If that's the case, ask the Minister at that time. The Minister understands better, if you answer that, yes," he said.

Ronny's name was busy when the KPK failed to arrest Harun Masiku in 2020. The reason was that he was removed by Yasonna H. Laoly, who at that time served as Minister of Law and Human Rights.

The removal began when the Directorate General of Immigration said Harun went abroad on January 6, 2020 and did not return until January 8, 2020 or when the KPK OTT took place. However, this statement was corrected by stating that the suspected briber of former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan returned to Indonesia on January 7, 2020.

Apart from Ronny, Yasonna also removed the Director of Immigration Systems and Technology Alif Suaidi. Both are considered responsible for the immigration data error Harun Masiku based on the results of the investigation by an independent team formed because of the incident.

Previously reported, the KPK named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as PDIP cadres and lawyers as suspects in alleged bribery related to the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives. They are suspected of participating in bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth out Harun Masiku's steps to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of carrying out a number of ways to make the case unfinished, one of which asked Harun to destroy his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was held.

In this case, Hasto and Donny have not been detained but have been prevented from leaving the country for six months. The same prohibition also applies to the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) of the era of President Joko Widodo, Yasonna H Laoly.
