Police Arrest Motorcycle Thief Through GPS Points Installed By Owner

The Tanjung Priok Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested two men suspected of stealing motorbikes with the initials TS and AA in the Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta.

"We arrested the two perpetrators of this theft, Monday (15/7) at 09.00 WIB and another perpetrator with the initials OK is still being chased," said Tanjung Priok Police Chief Kompol Nazirwan in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He said that initially the officers received a complaint from the victim with the initials YG, a resident of Pondok Kopi Duren palm, East Jakarta.

The victim reported that the company's Honda Beat motorcycle PT Indoguna disappeared on Monday (15/7) at the company's complex.

He said the motorbike was fitted with a "global positioning system" (GPS) or a tracking device and data on the dirty whereabouts was read in the Papanggo area, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta.

Furthermore, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Police, Iptu Tomy Brian Hutomo, along with officers and victims, went straight to the location recorded on the GPS.

When he arrived at the location, three motorbikes belonging to the victim were found in a condition where the ignition key was damaged and a search was carried out at the bedeng house, which was inhabited by three people, consisting of two men and a woman.

Officers found a small bag containing a letter T key and an air softgun bullet.

After that, the two men, when interrogated, admitted to stealing a motorbike with another friend with the initials OK, who had left the bedeng house.

"We found the motorbike used to steal and used as evidence," he said.

Nazirwan added that the perpetrators could be charged with violations in Article 363 of the Criminal Code, namely imprisonment for a maximum of seven years in prison.
