LSI Denny JA: Public Support 7 Presiden Prabowo Programs, But Reject Pilkada Elected By DPRD

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Circle Denny JA (LSI Denny JA) assesses that before 100 days of Prabowo Subianto's administration is very impressive to the public.

His performance in international forums, his public speech on many issues, and his warning to corruptors convince his main supporters that Prabowo has not only the potential to become a strong leader who advances the economy.

"The public sentiment is very positive. However, there is one negative sentiment, namely related to the Pilkada system," said LSI founder Denny JA, Denny Januar Ali in a presentation on the 2024 end of notes research, Thursday, December 26.

According to him, in his first year as a leader, Prabowo launched many of the main programs targeting the strategic sector. LSI Denny JA also analyzes public opinion using a technology-based approach. This research limits eight issues in the fields of health, agriculture, education, economy, welfare, labor, social and political.

LSI Denny JA found seven programs supported by positive sentiment. Meanwhile, one program received significant challenges from the public.

First, programs to improve the health of pregnant and lactating women through nutritional assistance, with a frequency of 2,505 conversations reaching positive sentiment of 53.7 percent and 46.3 percent negative. This program is appreciated for targeting vulnerable groups, namely pregnant women and children. However, criticism arose related to realization in the field, especially in remote areas.

Second, the food self-sufficiency target program by producing 4 million hectares of rice fields in 3-4 years. With a conversation frequency of 7,922, it achieved 70.0 percent positive and 30.0 percent negative sentiment. The public is optimistic about the potential for this program to increase food security. Although, skepticism remains related to budget efficiency and ambitious targets.

Third, the large budget allocation program for teacher welfare and school rehabilitation with a conversation frequency of 17,925. Having positive sentiment: 71.6 percent and 28.4 percent negative. Strong support arises from the community, especially regarding teacher welfare. The main challenge is ensuring the justice of budget distribution.

Fourth, the 8 percent economic growth target program through seven main sectors, including the green energy transition. With a conversation frequency of 8.002, this issue achieved positive sentiment of 58.0 percent and negative 42.0 percent. The green energy transition is in the positive spotlight. However, some people are skeptical of the realization of the high economic growth target.

Fifth, the stunting prevalence reduction program with a local food-based free nutritious food program with a conversation frequency of 2,264. Reaching positive sentiment of 52.7 percent and negative 47.3 percent. The public welcomes the Government's focus on stunting issues. The main challenge is the distribution of programs that are evenly distributed to remote areas.

Sixth, the provision of 3 million houses, including 2 million houses in villages through local MSMEs with a conversation frequency of 4,190, received 53.7 percent positive sentiment and 46.3 percent negative. This program is considered a step forward to overcome housing for the poor. His criticism is only related to funding and realization time.

Seventh, the increase in the national minimum wage (UMN) by 6.5 percent in 2025 with a frequency of 5,248 conversations. Reaching positive sentiment: 52.6 percent and 47.4 percent negative. Workers welcome this UMN increase well. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs are worried about its impact on competitiveness.

Meanwhile, the issue of regional elections through DPRD for cost efficiency with a conversation frequency of 1,629 only won 23.7 percent positive sentiment. The public sentiment is dominantly negative, namely 76.3 percent. This program received sharp criticism from the public who are worried about weakening democracy and increasing the risk of corruption.

Denny JA suggested that the Prabowo government focus on implementing programs that have received positive support. In addition, increasing transparency, make sure all programs have a strong monitoring mechanism to avoid irregularities.

Denny appealed that Prabowo should avoid the issue of the Pilkada being elected by the DPRD. Presidential Indonesian politics cannot be equated with India, Singapore, or Malaysia which is parliamentary.

It was warned, in 2014, the Pilkada effort chosen by the DPRD was tried, but in the end President SBY canceled it. The survey of public opinion at that time showed that more than 80 percent of the people rejected their right to directly choose a leader was revoked.

Denny warned that the potential for a decline in public support for Prabowo due to the Pilkada issue by the DPRD was too expensive.

"Many people will easily reverse their support. Prabowo, for his various big programs, especially in the first year, needs public support. Prabowo has the potential to be remembered as the same as Asian legend leaders, such as Mahathir, Deng Xiaoping, and Lee Kuan Yew, if he does not make policies that are considered contrary to the spirit of reform," he ordered.
