The Malang Resort Police (Polres), East Java Police, conducted an intensive investigation regarding the discovery of the body of a baby girl by residents on the banks of the Bango River, Pakis District, local Regency, Saturday, July 13.

Kasihumas Malang Police, Ipda Dicka Ermantara, confirmed the discovery and stated that his party had carried out various investigative steps to uncover this case.

"It is true that the baby's body was found on the banks of the Bango River, Pakis District. The Malang Police Satreskrim Team and Pakis Police have carried out investigative steps," said Ipda Dicka, quoting Antara, Sunday, July 14.

Ipda Dicka explained that the incident began when Suhartono (54), a local resident, was on his way home from the prayer room at around 18.00 WIB, Saturday, July 13.

On his way, Suhartono ran into two anglers who told him they saw something suspicious in the river, which was originally mistaken for a doll.

However, after being approached, it turned out that the object was the body of a baby caught on the riverbank. Suhartono immediately reported this discovery to the village officials which was then forwarded to Pakis Police officers.

"The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pakis Police will soon arrive at the location to conduct a crime scene (TKP). The evacuation was carried out with the SAR and Volunteer teams," said Ipda Dicka.

Ipda Dicka said the baby's body was found with the central rope still attached. There were no signs of violence on the baby's body, and it is estimated that the baby had died about five days earlier.

Pakis Police officers then took the baby's body to the Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang for a post-mortem.

Ipda Dicka said that a thorough investigation was being carried out to reveal the facts related to this case.

The police are trying to identify victims and gather information from the surrounding community to find the party responsible for this incident.
